Why Double Cleanse?
Curious About Double Cleansing?
The other day when I was posting some tips for Avon Canada Reps on Rumble, I was led to some really great advice on double cleansing posted by an Avon Rep from the USA.
This is an adaptation of the post she wrote.
What is Double Cleansing?
Double cleansing is as simple as it sounds—it means to wash your face with two cleansers. Typically, you use an oil-based cleanser first, followed by a water-based formula.
Why Use Two Different Cleansers?
While you could use two regular cleansers, double cleansing removes your makeup and sunscreen to clear the way for your regular cleanser to cleanse your skin,
Think of it this way - have you ever tried cleaning off baked-on grease with a regular cleaner? It could take all day and you still might never get that baked-on grease off!
Avon recommends starting with an oil-based liquid cleanser, cleansing balm, like Farm RX or Belif
or a gentle face scrub. Be sure to pick one that suits your skin type.
Follow up with your regular water-based cream or gel cleanser, then finish the rest of your skincare routine as usual.
When Do You Need To Double Cleanse?
Generally, you’ll want to double cleanse to remove sunscreen and makeup before heading off to bed.
When you get up from sleeping one cleanse is usually all you need, However, if you have very oily skin, you might want to double cleanse in the morning as well.
If your regular cleanser isn’t removing enough excess oil, but using a stronger cleanser leaves your skin feeling dry and tight double cleansing might be a better solution for you too.
Who Should Double Cleanse?
Do you have normal-to-oily skin? Are you prone to breakouts? Do you wear heavy makeup?
Double cleansing is something you will definitely want to try. Otherwise, save double cleansing for when you have been somewhere that the air is gritty - like downtown in the city. You might also double cleanse to give your skin a treat as you would with a facemask or other targeted treatment.
